Alice Hung, C’90, W’90
Alice Hung is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Universal (Hong Kong) Technology Co. Ltd. and the Chairperson of Wharton’s Executive Board of Asia.
Universal is a leading sales and distribution company in Asia specializing in testing equipment, scientific & research instrumentation, industrial tools, and related supplies. The company provides essential equipment for drug discovery, research, and development in nanomaterial sciences and quantum physics as well as quality assurance for petroleum-related products.
Established in 1991, Universal has 5 branch offices in China, several service centers in second-tier cities, representative offices in Vietnam, as well as an administrative and logistics center in its Hong Kong headquarters. Its clients include world-class universities like Peking University, Tsinghua University, Academy of Sciences, top-notch research institutions and almost all of the testing laboratories in China.

Robert Zou, WG’94
Robert Zou is the founder, Chairman and CEO of Arrail Group Ltd., which is one of China’s largest private dental groups and has more than 90 dental clinics and five dental hospitals, operating in China’s 16 major cities.
Prior to founding Arrail in 1998, Robert Zou spent more than fourteen years working with multinational companies in China, Hong Kong and the US. Robert worked for A.T. Kearney in Hong Kong as a management consultant involved in developing China entry strategies for multinational healthcare companies. Robert also worked for Bankers Trust in Hong Kong in the field of asset management and for SmithKline Beecham in China as marketing manager responsible for establishing its marketing practices in China.
Robert has a BA degree from Tianjin Foreign Language Institute and an MBA degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Robert is currently the director of the 2005 Committee of China’s Western Returned Scholars’ Association, is a Member of The Wharton School’s Asian Executive Board, and is an Overseer of the Dental School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Gang Yu GRW’90
Gang Yu received his PhD from the Wharton School and is the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of New Peak Group (111.com.cn). Prior to founding New Peak Group, Dr. Yu was the Co-Founder and Chairman of Yihaodian – a leading ecommerce company in China. Dr. Yu served as Vice President; Worldwide Procurement at Dell Inc. and Vice President, Worldwide Supply Chain at Amazon.com. Before Amazon, Dr. Yu served as Chair Professor at University of Texas at Austin, and Director of the Center for Management of Operations and Logistics, and co-Director of the Center for Decision Making under Uncertainty.
Dr. Yu has received numerous international awards including: the 2002 Franz Edelman Management Science Achievement Award from INFORMS, the 2002 IIE Transaction Award for Best Application Paper, the 2003 Outstanding IIE Publication Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers, the 2012 Martin K. Starr Excellence in Production and Operations Management Practice Award from POMS. Dr. Yu has published over 80 journal articles, 4 books, and he holds 3 US patents.
Dr. Yu is the founder and CEO of CALEB Technologies Corporation in 1995 in the US, the company was later acquired by Accenture.
2016 Penn Wharton China Entrepreneur Award
Tao Zhang WG’02
Tao Zhang is the inaugural recipient of the Penn Wharton China Entrepreneur Award, given at the first ever Penn Wharton Entrepreneurship China Alumni Dinner in March 2016.
Tao Zhang received his MBA from the Wharton School and worked in the US as an IT consultant before returning to China. In 2003, Tao founded Dianping, which among other firsts pioneered the use of consumer reviews for restaurants. Dianping is a leading local life information and transaction platform in China.
Dianping was founded in April 2003 in Shanghai, China as the premiere website providing independent consumer reviews on local services in the world. Today, Dianping is China’s leading O2O (online to offline) platform for urban and lifestyle services. In addition to merchant information and consumer reviews, Dianping also offers group-buying, online restaurant reservation, take-out delivery, e-coupon promotions, and other O2O services, covering local businesses in industries including dining, movies, lodging, entertainment, beauty, wedding, mom & kids, home renovations, etc. With over 250 million cumulative users, Dianping’s mobile application has become an indispensable smartphone application for Chinese-speaking consumers, and the most powerful online partner for local businesses.
