Startup Challenge Semifinalist Paragon
Buildings always need repairs. Paragon is an online marketplace that makes it faster and cheaper to find contractors, compare bids, and manage work through completion.
How did you come up with this idea?
Paragon was founded in 2017 after its co-founder Victor Hunt had worked in real estate for a number of years and had recognized that buildings consistently struggled to efficiently connect with contractors and receive quality bids on needed repairs. Based on this insight, Victor teamed up with Matthew Kim to help Paragon build a world-class technology product, and also recruited Aaron Resnick to help build the Company’s design and business capacities. Together, the team met with hundreds of building owners and contractors throughout 2017 to validate our core hypotheses and learn exactly how to build a product to meet our users’ needs.
Matthew took on Paragon’s technical development early on and grew its team by recruiting other talented engineers to join the team. Matt’s prototype product enabled Paragon to conduct a beta-test in Summer 2017, which resulted in extremely positive results for the Company. Since then, Paragon has continued to build its product and sign up more users.
How will your venture change the world?
Paragon will change the way buildings and contractors connect forever. As one mentor put it, “any industry where you need to know a guy is ripe for disruption.” Paragon empowers building owners with transparency into the wider market of vendors and speeds up the decision making process. Overall, Paragon modernizes business in real estate, dramatically increasing efficiency in one of the world’s largest industries.
