Jon M. Huntsman Hall
Startup Challenge Semifinalist Welligence
Welligence Energy uses proprietary machine learning algorithms to forecast production and future value in international oil and gas assets. Founded at Penn, we have offices in Houston, Texas and NYC.
How did you come up with this idea?
Our CEO Ross (WG ’17) had worked extensively in the energy industry before coming to Wharton, and had the insight that modern data infrastructure and analysis could transform energy research. When he met his technical co-founder Seth Neel (WH STAT PHD ’20) after literally bumping into him in Huntsman Hall, Welligence was born.
How will your venture change the world?
We will provide the same level of data transparency and analysis that is available to domestic energy investors, for the Latin America upstream exploration and production segment. Increased investment and more efficient allocation of resources has the potential to dramatically impact the economies of these nations and the lives of their citizens, as well as the global energy market.
